A term you need to know: Virtuosity. It is the pursuit of mastery. In competition. In testing. In practice. Everyday. Every rep. In the eyes of a judge and when no one is looking. It is what separates the average from the elite. Not necessarily the top athletes, but the best movers. When we are too focused on the number on the whiteboard, we lose an inch or two of depth on a squat here and there. Our chest misses the ground on some push-ups or our chin doesn’t quite make it over the pull-up bar and the last rep…and we let it go. We count those reps considering most of the reps were to standard. But that’s not good enough. The goal is virtuosity. More to follow…
