Whole Life Challenge Day 20!!

Unlike workout or diet plans, the Whole Life Challenge doesn’t exist to pour information into you. We don’t tell you how every day is supposed to be and what you should be doing right now. We ask you to look at what you want and if what you’re doing right now is going to make a difference.

Unlike tracking apps and wearable body monitors, we don’t feed data about you back to you. No matter how many steps you took, how many times your heart beat, or how many hours you slept, what matters is what you do next. We don’t tell you what you did. YOU tell you what you did. Do you see the difference?

The first is a number – easy to understand, hard to know what to do with. The second is a revelation – you getting clear on how you behave. Harder to understand, maybe, but much more powerful when it comes to knowing what to do.

A lot of what’s out there takes you from the outside/in – if you change or know enough about the outside circumstances, you can make a change on the inside. Playing this game works you from the inside/out. Stop worrying so much about if you’re doing the right thing and do something. Change how you interact with yourself. Build up your inside. The outside becomes obvious when the inside develops. When you have your inside, you automatically have the right outside.

The outside/in philosophy can get very distracting. Follow it too long and you can forget that the map is not the territory. The information, the data, the tracked and “quantified” self is all very interesting, but it’s not really anything. It’s intellectually satisfying, but it can lead you to think that you’re actually doing something. Use it if it empowers you to act, but don’t think that there’s enough data to change anything. Only you change anything.

You will get further, plant deeper roots, and create changes that last a lifetime by following a practice of making and facing your choices. You don’t even have to make the “right” ones. Just by being willing to acknowledge the “bad” choices you make as your choices you’ll start making more good ones. You cannot deceive yourself into making good choices.

Understand that whatever actions you take during these 8 weeks are the right ones. Do your best to be aware of as many of them as possible. You can complete this challenge washed clean of false ideas about yourself and of doing things right. You can complete this challenge free to “be water” and free to meet your life right where it’s been waiting for you.

It won’t matter how many new diets you embark on, how many trendy workout routines you try, or how much technology is tracking your every move. Each of those only adds a layer on top of what you’re really here to master – you.
