Platform Etiquette
∞ To employ visual focal points, no one is allowed to step into the line of sight of a lifting athlete. Athletes should remain behind the platform while a training mate is lifting. This contributes to safety by minimizing random movement.
∞ Comments must be positive. Tell your training partner what to do to correct a movement. This keeps the athletes involved with each other’s training and thus more aware. This makes it easier to minimize random accidents.
∞ The last lifter and the next lifter each load one end of the barbell on weight changes. The oncoming lifter is to inform the outgoing lifter which change is to be made. Again, this practice keeps the athletes involved with the training and avoids accidents.
∞ An athlete performing a lift has “right of way” over someone who is carrying plates from one platform to another and passing in front.
∞ Everyone must participate in setting up and putting things away.
