We have a ton of new faces around the gym and many are brand new to CrossFit altogether. While we try to be diligent about writing and explaining everything in the day’s training, we occasionally get deer in headlights confusion. Here is your one time get of out jail free card.  This a condensed list of are fairly common acronyms, terms, jargon etc. found in CF (that stands for CrossFit, folks) gyms all over the globe. And remember, everything is a google search away.

  • C2B: Chest to Bar
  • CF: CrossFit (HQ..that’s Headquaters as in CrossFit headquarters..requires us to capitalize the F)
  • CLN: Clean
  • C&J: Clean and jerk
  • C2: Concept II rowing machine
  • DB: Double “D” preceding a kettlebell related acronym calls for 2 kettlebells. ie DSN=Double Kettlebell Snatch.

  • RM: Repetition maximum. May be 1RM, 2RM, etc.
  • SN: Snatch
  • SQ: Squat
  • Subbed: Substituted. The CORRECT use of “subbed,” as in “substituted,” is, “I subbed an exercise I can do for one I can’t,” For example, if you can’t do a HSPU, you subbed regular push-ups. (We don’t use this term often, but if you go on the CF forums, subbed is often misused and it’s a huge pet peeve.)
  • TGU: Turkish Getup
  • TTB: Toes to bar. Occasionally, I get frisky and use T2B.
